Zippo Manufacturing Company
The world's most famous lighter, the Zippo lighter, is the story of a company that has been around for more than 80 years and is constantly evolving.
The story started in 1932 in Bradford Pennsylvania, USA with George W. Blaisdell inventing the Zippo and the ringing slogan "It works or we fix it for free™" and it still rings true today.
The product family has also grown over the years. Today, in addition to the classic Zippo gasoline lighter, the family also includes Multi Purpose lighters, Butane gas lighters, Zippo writing instruments, watches and outdoor gear, it has even become its own clothing collection. In addition, Zippo Mfg. owns the famous American knife factory W.R. Case Cutlery & Sons, which is known for producing handmade knives with a lifetime warranty.
And the classic Zippo lighter, it still looks the same; the corners are a little rounder and the edges a little less sharp, but the shape and sound are still unmistakable. You know when you've got a Zippo. And with 500 million produced back in 2012, every Zippo lighter is a piece of history in itself. Just as each new Zippo product continues the story of the world's most famous lighter and a company that is carried on today by George W. Blaisdell's descendants, in the same factory where the adventure began more than 80 years ago.
